Hotel Van Zandt

Love this hotel and pool. Staff was so friendly and helpful throughout. We stayed at another hotel the first part of our trip which was AWFUL and the Van Zandt was a breath of fresh air! Special shout out to Logan and Bennett at the valet stand who went above and beyond even going back to my car after it was parked to retrieve something I left inside. And with smiles and friendliness the whole time!

This hotel was amazing in every way. From the start, checking in at 7:30 pm was a breeze and also getting a complimentary margarita with a smile from receptionist. Also, if you want free bottled water just ask at the front desk. The coffee shop was excellent and quick with breakfast sandwiches and great java. The pool was pristine and lovely waitress and bartender always with a smile. The restaurant at the hotel - Geraldines has exquisite wine selection along with small plates to share. There was free entertainment while we dined. The hotel is only a few blocks away from Rainy Street which was a major plus as you can walk to various bars/restaurants. It is only a short Uber ride to downtown 6th Street as well. My 3 girlfriends and I will definitely return for another stay if ever in Austin.

We just returned from a long weekend in Austin where we stayed at Hotel Van Zandt. I went with my husband and 3 other couples. We stayed 3 nights and that was just enough time to explore Austin. The hotel is beautiful. It has such a cool vibe with the music theme. The hotel and rooms were clean. Housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. There are plenty of spots to chill out in the lobby and a cool lobby bar. The pool was nice (on the smaller side), but plenty big for the crowd that was there. There is a bar at the pool too. The location is great. We walked most everywhere we wanted to go (Congress Street, Bat Bridge, 6th Street, Visitor's Center, etc.). The hotel is just around the corner from Rainey Street (bars, restaurants, etc.). There is a coffee/small breakfast spot connected to the hotel. There is also a cute market across the street from the hotel. The area felt super safe too. At check-in, the hotel gives you tokens for free margaritas served at the front desk from 12-9pm. This was super fun and the margaritas were very good. They gave us 1 token per night we stayed there. I only wish they would have given us one token per person per night we stayed - we only got 3 total tokens for our 3 nights, but there were 2 of us in the room. If you like to go to bed early and like it quiet, this may not be the hotel for you. The hotel is right behind on the bars on Rainey Street. They play super loud music until about 2am. We were on the 9th floor and definitely heard it...even after turning on the sound machine that the hotel provides in each room. That was a nice touch, but you should just know that you'll most likely hear the music. The rooms were super dark though after pulling the curtains, so that helped you sleep in longer. I'm not sure if the hotel allows kids or not, but I definitely wouldn't have loved my kids seeing one of the options on the mini bar on our table (a romance kit with items I'd rather not explain to my 11 year old). Just a watch out there if you're traveling with kids. I'm assuming they're in every room (they at least were for ours and our friends' rooms). Overall, I'd definitely recommend the hotel, but thought you should know about a couple of things that may bother some people.

Fun, upscale and well located hotel with friendly and helpful service. VZ felt authentic to the Austin music and culture vibe without sacrificing luxury. Most convenient to Rainey st but downtown area and south congress were an easy walk.

This is my first ever review as I stay in hotels basically every other week and have never had such a bad experience before. The staff was unfriendly and not truthful throughout our experience. I had a package delivered to the hotel which was marked delivered and signed for at the hotel, yet it was lost. After speaking to multiple people they ultimately blamed me saying that I must have already picked it up or put in the wrong address. Finally an employee told the truth and said they must have lost it and there was nothing they could do. Seems to me that they could have done a lot more. Valet also took the keychain with my home key/garage fob/mail key off my car key and lost it. Once again they blamed me saying they must have given it back to me when I checked in. Once again, not true. I also had been tipping the valet all weekend and paid over $120 to valet the car. Finally, there were blood stains on the window curtains and bedding. Which is just unacceptable. Overall, bad experience and would not recommend.

We came as part of a wedding party. I had to call four separate times to get the booking as part of the wedding group over the course of a month. Each time I was told they would call me back and they never did. It wasn’t until the fourth call, after the groom called on my behalf, that I was successful. Upon check in I was told that we weren’t in their system as part of the wedding rate so I was being charged the normal rate. Their systems are terrible! If they fix this I will edit this review otherwise I plan to dispute it through my credit card.

I’ve never written a review, but I feel this is necessary. Do NOT book here if you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, etc. Do NOT book here if you want to be able to sleep. Do NOT book here if you don’t want unnecessary resort fees that don’t get you anything… it’s a total scam. Do NOT book here if you like friendly, honest workers that tell you consistent information. Here’s my story… I booked this hotel in an attempt to treat my mom for her 70th birthday. We usually never stay at “nice” hotels, and I spent a great deal on this reservation since it’s a huge bday. I asked a month in advance if they could leave my mom a birthday note in the room upon arrival; they confirmed it’d be no problem. When we arrived to the room, it wasn’t there. I called down to ask if it could be delivered at 7pm while we’re gone at dinner, they confirmed yes. Later at dinner, I received a text from an employee named Jared. I had him confirm again that it would be brought to the room while we’re gone. He said it’d be brought up right away. We returned at 9:30pm, still nothing in the room… couldn’t believe it. I texted Jared who said it could be brought up tonight. I said please have them just slide the note under the door then because my mom’s sleeping, otherwise tomorrow. He said yes of course. At 10:45pm, we had a knock and a delivery that woke her up. It was food that we wouldn’t want to eat this late as we’re both sleeping. On top of this, it was a challenge for her to fall asleep in the first place with the loud Rainey Street noise with earplugs and a sound machine on the loudest setting, and this woke her up. So she ended up being upset instead of surprised/excited. We then couldn’t fall asleep until 2am when the outside music stopped. Additionally, service was bad from the start. The front desk ladies were not friendly or welcoming; simply never smiled. We arrived around 11:15am and were told we could leave our bags and come back around 2pm to see if our room is available, which is totally understandable. We did that, and were told not quite yet, but that they would text us when it’s ready. Never received a text. You’d think the fact that we were there early and kept showing up to check if a room was ready would mean they’d place us in a room with a better location (quieter area) over someone else, especially since I’m traveling with a senior who likely doesn’t want to be out late. But no… it seems they prioritize people that PAY to check in early; which they verbally quoted cost $50, but I had received an email saying it was $40 usually, or $25 with a discount. This was the first inconsistency. Inconsistency #2: The original guy at check-in told us that a $15/day credit would be applied to our room to use. The next day, we double checked with another guy at the front desk who said $10/day. At check out, I was charged the $30/day “resort” fees separately due to booking thru a 3rd party (which is how I found this hotel), and the guy explained t

Bait and switch! I drove from out of town and packed all my spa items, excited for this king spa package, only to find out that their direct website has a known reservation issue. I called to confirm my spa room at 1pm, checked in early at 3pm and then was told they oversold their rooms with soaking tubs after valet already took my car. I would not have selected this hotel if I would have known I would receive a room without a soaking tub. I paid top dollar and even offered to pay more to get what I reserved but was only offered a discount. Since I already paid for a babysitter and booked reservations for later that evening I did not have a choice to select a different place to stay. I was told I would get “the best replacement” and ended up with a tiny room with a view of construction and a walk in shower. I booked direct with the hotel’s website and was still charged for the spa king suite which is unetical. The final blow was having to experience stress and anxiety again at check out because I had to advocate for the “credit” they were supposed to apply. This experience ruined the only trip I have planned away from my kids in 5 years. I did this as a gift for myself after my father passed away recently and just needed time away. The staff was not empathetic or helpful. Do not waste your time or money!

Recently visited on the 8th of September and daily parked with the Towne Park valet service for a few hours. All seemed fine when we arrived, but that was not the case at the end of our visit. What we first noticed was that when we decided to leave, we were forced to pay via apple pay or venmo. I had to give my personal number to the valet in order to pay the $30 rate. This is unprofessional act #1. Second, upon further inspection. We noticed that all of our personal belongings from the car were gone. During our short visit, we asked to have a t shirt lift in our vehicle but were leaving the vehicle parked. That T shirt was also gone and not in the vehicle. Unprofessional act #3, we escalated our issue to the hotel and the Towne Park account manager Brian. Brian then went on to blame is own employees for the disappearance of our items as, “he didn’t see anyone take from our vehicle” and then continued to tell us he would return our calls and had yet to this day. 9/17/24. We have not been reached out to by the Hotel, or Brian since. You would expect better treatment from a hotel like this, or even from a “account manager” of a valet service. I too used to work for this company and not 100% sure as to why this gentleman was hired this role. From his criminal employees, to his self conscious self of getting caught in the wrong. Be a man and a true manager Brian. Very simple to do, your team is the exact representation of how well of a leader you are. Speaks volume. To you and to the Hotel Van Zandt, do better.
