Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel

This was our second stay here. Hotel now has refrigerators in the units and ice machines on every floor. The loud club type pool music didn’t suit the audience which was mostly families and people trying to relax,. A bit expensive given parking is not included. Not sure we would stay here again unless going to a concert at Stone Pony.

Thanks to the great staff and especially Supriya we enjoyed our stay very much and had a wonderful visit on our first anniversary! The room was excellent. We spent a great day in Asbury Park and great weather to boot. Supriya made our stay one to remember. Thanks again. See you next time!

Over priced, old outdated hotel! Very disappointed from the moment I pulled up to valet. Parked car out front took out luggage and stood there with my keys in hand while 7 valet attendants talked amongst themselves and completely ignored me. When I finally did get acknowledged they tell me valet is $75/night and no alternative option. Front desk staff were less than professional. Got to room only to be further disappointed. TV is outdated, old fashioned remote, no menu or guide. You do not get what you pay for here.

The website pictures are a set up for disappointment. While some areas of the room have been renovated, our room was not. Furnishings are worn and dated. Carpeting looked like it was from the 50's. The bathroom was updated but so small, one person can barely move around. The hallways were freezing cold. Decent location but not worth the price. $28 resort fee - come on man!

Here is the deal - if you want a convenient and decent place to stay right near (half a block) from Asbury Park - this place checks all the boxes. 22 of us stayed here for a family reunion in July. All of our rooms were clean and fine, just be prepared they lack amenities like coffee, etc. but cover the basics. We found the hotel staff to be super helpful with reservations and room logistics. We rented two cabanas by the pool one day, and the waiter was great. The food was terrific, and there was a fun vibe with a good DJ. My husband and I got a huge suite so we could host the family for HH. The room worked for that, but all of their larger suites are near elevators, so that isn't the greatest. The hotel has lots of outdoor seating areas, which is nice. It also has a decent breakfast cafe, several convenient bars, and ping-pong in the lobby, which was fun for the teens. This isn't a luxury hotel but it is a clean good option for being super close to Asbury Park. It is really close! This spot worked great for our family reunion.

Nearly $600 for a room that was surface clean (don't look in corners or edges!) and NO AC in August! Room was 83 degrees and crazy humid at 1AM - finally repaired in early morning hours- I get it stuff can break but no offer of comping a breakfast or an even small discount - nope- actually had a bit of an attitude that I told the desk it wasn't a good stay- Found out had been broken a couple of days - we weren't contacted with the option to cancel or even bring a fan! Didn't know until we called down to desk at 9PM- good location but way overpriced- azure restaurant was decent

We wouldn’t stay here again. Clean room, comfy bed, but this place lacks simple conveniences that make a stay enjoyable, starting with a sign telling you where to pull in to the hotel entrance. With many one way streets it may take a few trips around to get to the front entrance. Bathroom had one tiny bar to hang towels, room needed several more outlets, and had no hotel orientation materials. We had to guess where to find the pool, cafe, etc. and what times these amenities were available. My husband had to opt for a vending machine after 9 on a Sunday night to get a snack, foregoing the coffee he wanted. Antiquated vending machine didn’t take credit cards, and the front desk was cashless when he tried to get singles for the vending machine. Good thing the valet had singles to help him out. Maid was outside our door, we both individually greeted her and got absolutely no response whatsoever. Our room was not serviced as I had indicated I desired upon check in. A call to the desk did get us fresh towels and toiletries. Elevators were readily available and fast. Some small tweaks could make this place better, but as of now it may cost you a bit more to stay elsewhere, but it would be worth it. We were in town for a wedding and this location allowed us to walk to the wedding venue.

The hotel is my favorite stay when going to Asbury Park. Charles the bartender always take care of us with his delicious craft cocktails. We will always return to The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel for it has the best customer service and is a unique and kitschy place on the ocean.
