We decided to walk from Arusha town on a hot morning, there aren’t any paths per say, but we arrived safely. Once you have passed the Heritage centre, it’s not too much further, and you can see the coffee plantation alongside you as you walk. The place itself is beautifully tucked away off the main road. We had emailed ahead and booked in for lunch, and we had some spare time. A guide greeted us and offered to show us around “Shanga” which is a place on site where people of mixed disabilities make blankets, jewellery, bags and glass blowing. It’s incredibly interesting and you can have a go yourself (at the jewellery, not the glass blowing!!!). There is also a gift shop to buy their products and a small cafe too. We headed to the restaurant, set in the gardens, the staff are extremely attentive, Dennise looked after us really well, the monkeys are very brave and the food is delicious. Well worth a visit.
