Arugambay Resort

We arrived at the hotel after searching for a place to stay, it is a hotel that really feels like an escape from the noise of Arugam, in the evenings you can hear noise from the businesses outside. The rooms are clean and spacious in a tropical area, so friends can enter the room, but the staff immediately takes care of it. The pool is maintained and we completely had a quiet and pleasant corner. But what made the experience so great was the welcome of Rashika who took care of our every request during the stay and all the other staff, always smiling and helping. I have never come across such a team. And don't give up on the Chaturi massage! Magic hands!

The front entrance of the resort is unassuming, but once inside, the grandeur of the surroundings becomes evident. The villas are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring open-plan bathrooms and minimalistic design. The high-quality bedding enhances the overall experience. The beautiful gardens provide a serene canopy throughout the resort. Guests can enjoy yoga classes in a pavilion next to a shimmering blue tiled pool, surrounded by Temple flower trees. The pool deck offers sun loungers and a chance to relax in the cool water while taking in the scenic beauty. The exceptional staff truly enhance the stay. Sanghitha, the restaurant manager, is a welcoming and free-spirited presence, always ready to assist. Mathi exudes a charismatic calm, while Rashika is helpful in every aspect of the resort. The customer service is outstanding. I highly recommend Hideaway Resort for guests of all ages.

If you’re looking for a blend of great typical local & western food, excellent rooms, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere with live music in a romantic garden, perfecty located in the very centre of Arumgabay you can stop scrolling. This is the place to be. The family owned resort, run by Sharon and her superfriendly and dedicated staff delivers a lot of value for money. We - a family of 6 -had a great time and we are sure it will be the same for many many others. Let’s hope it never changes!

An absolute gem of a resort the Hideaway was everything we needed and everything we had hoped it would be. The Podi Gedera (small house) which was perfect for our family of 4, a homily feel with the ability to cook for ourselves as we were on Self catering basis. We however took the opportunity to eat at the Hideaway restaurant most days which have a fab selection of food! The pool was great and yoga classes perfect for whatever mood you’re in. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We were really looked after, especially our little girl who fell ill. Sharon and the team were there for support and help and we could not be thankful enough! Hideaway is a piece of perfection in an amazing part of Sri Lanka!!

Lovely hotel with a really friendly and caring team who made us feel very welcome. We loved swimming in the pool, had fantastic massages, and enjoyed yoga sessions. What more could you ask for? The hotel also has a great restaurant and bar with live music some nights.

Sharon is a fabulous host and our stay was the best in Sri Lanka. Hideaway resort is all in one place. The ac / non ac rooms give the feel of a wild place with all the amenities, a Mediterranean style cafe and menu, live music, massage, beautiful backyard with wooden yoga studio on the pool side. Their manager Sangita is also a very bubbly host and makes sure that all requirements are met. Then they have very knowledgeable safari guide Shohan and his driver Ravi. If someone wants a real safari experience and probable leopard sighting, Shohan is the guy. He works at Hideaway and hosts safari trips. Not only his knowledge is great on birds and Kumana wildlife, he and his driver are also great trekkers and know their way around the park. We payed 250 USD for the whole Safari trip which included binocs, bird book, fruits and scrambled eggs for breakfast and pesto pasta for lunch. We crossed bird sanctuary and stopped at the Kimbukkan oya river for lunch. I would return to Hideaway many times more. Thanks Sharon!
