Contessa Hotel

We’ve been back a few days now and I miss the place so much! Firstly - location; amazing, at the top of a crossroads at the end of which - to the left and right - are a number of bars and restaurants to choose from, we were spoiled for choice for a week. Highly recommend Peppermint (opposite the church to the left, on the street behind the main) and Orange (which is also to the right in the main road). We didn’t have any bad food though. 10 mins to Zakynthos town which is well worth a visit. 15 mins to St Nicholas beach - also recommended. There is no real beach in Argasi itself just a very thin strip, but there are some lovely bars you can sit at on the front whilst watching the sea. Now onto the hotel: - spotlessly clean (rooms made up every day, towels changed every other). - breakfast: great choice of hot and cold food, eggs, sausages, veg, fruit, yoghurt etc. very busy even in October so imagine in summer it’s even more so but you just go with it - showers: constantly hot water and great water pressure - rooms: we were given chance to upgrade and we chose not to, the ‘basic’ rooms are fine for what we wanted, we were on floor one (basement) with a garden view - it wasn’t really a garden more a strip of green with lime trees but we loved it as nice and quiet and felt like we were cocooned away from main hotel - pool area: spacious, modern, clean. The food menu had loads of choice and came quickly - compliments to the chef who worked very hard all day - staff : this is what made it for us. They weren’t overbearing and wouldn’t bother you if you didn’t want to chat etc, but we did and every night we had a nightcap by the pool bar, the gents there worked so so hard, all day every day making people feel welcome and comfortable, never experienced such good service on any holiday before. Overall this is a very very good 3* hotel, I’d say at the top end if not pushing 4*. It’s unpretentious but clean, spacious, welcoming and friendly. We’re not the type of couple to revisit same hotels but for this we’d probably make an exception.

Another great stay ,hotel is spotless, staff really helpful, bar great and bar food good ,big hello to Lydia lovely as ever ,missed Spirios this year hopefully he will be back ,hotel in great location ,hopefully we will be back next year, yamas

Highly recommend this little gem of a hotel. Warm friendly staff and its kept spotlessly clean by the team of cleaners. We upgraded to a pool view room which was perfect. The hotel is well located for exploring the island which we did by bike. The breakfast suited us with fresh varied choices.

A wonderful hotel , stay here if you’re going to Argassi. Great location, wonderful staff. Lots to do in local area.Second time we have stayed here , absolutely first class , you will not be disappointed, loved every minute and hope to return in the near future

First time staying here after visiting Argassi for 16 years normally stay at Katerina Palace. Contessa has such lovely staff greeted at reception by a lovely lady explained everything to us gave us option to upgrade if we wanted at 15 euro a day we declined. The room was a little dated but spotlessly clean and smelt fresh. It was cleaned every day and fresh towels every other day. The breakfast ample choice for everyone again spotless a d views were stunning. The pool area again clean and bar staff great. The food delicious. Would I ome again yes without a doubt. It was my birthday whilst there I had bottle of sparkling wine and card in my room.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in August and the stay was very nice until the last so many days, the air con in our sons basement room didnt work properly and was reported to reception at least 4 times but only recorded by reception once? they did try and repair it everytime but it didnt work either way, they then put a mobile air con unit in but it was not vented out of a window as not possible so pointless putting it in there any way? after complaining to reception it was said that we would get a refund for the days that it didnt work, and told the manager would be in the next morning, so i asked the same receptionist for the manager the next morning and was told there was no need to do this as we will get a refund, I get the impression the reception dont like bothering the manager and will avoid this at all costs. on check out day i asked for the refund and was told we werent getting one?? and the manager was 100% uncontactable due to personal reasons, which lead to a bit of an arguement and ending up with the receptionist offering to pay the refund out of her own purse, which i declined as thats just not right, anyway be careful with situations like this as they will give you the run around and be rude to you, and not give a refund for something you pay for and not get.
