Lauriston Hotel

Hotel is very easy to find ,located around 2 minutes from the Ardrossan South beach station . Additionally it is around a 15 minute walk to the Ardrossan Ferry terminal for the Arran boat . It was a very nice touch that the hotel had appropriate Halloween themed lighting upon arrival outside and inside for Halloween weekend . Upon check in the front desk were very welcoming and took the time to explain where everything was and take our order for breakfast . As our ferry was cancelled the next day , the staff at the hotel were very helpful and let us keep our bags in our room as the weather was atrocious and offered to let us stay in the bar/lounge area as long as we needed. Excellent service . Hotel room and all other areas were perfectly clean and in good condition . The room had a kettle and the bar was open until late . The breakfast in the morning was also fantastic . Overall a great stay before going over to Arran and would stay again.

Booked lunch for 5 . Staff initially pleasant but not very engaging. Starters nice however asked for additional plate as my wife cannot eat a full starter and main meal, plate never arrived. Main course arrived and my sons burger was advertised as having a breoch bun when it arrived it was a normal bun with sesame seeds which he is allergic to, complained and was offered a replacement however he was really put off and didn't want anything else. Portions where large and food was fine, waited at least 20 mins for plates to be cleared and eventually had to ask for this and the bill. Bill had to be asked for on 2 separate occasions. Just b4 plates where cleared it was noticed that the bread on one of our dishes was mouldy. This was passed on to waiting staff, who apologised but too little too late. Staff did not smile at any time not very welcoming. Whilst sitting in the car park a kitchen staff member exited and went straight to the bin with at least 4 loaves that where mouldy, very poor stock rotation or ordering. Would never return or recommend to anyone and was extremely overpriced for what I would consider nothing more than average food.

My mum and I visit the lauriston for lunch regularly & obviously like it enough to return. I acknowledge weekends are busy especially when the weather is good. Visited yesterday & all I can say is it was chaos. We waited nearly half an hour between being seated & getting our meal. There were loads of staff, but most seemed to be walking about aimlessly. One guy in particular picked up one glass at a time & just wandered about aimlessly. Within 2-3 mins of getting our food, 2 staff members did ask if we were happy with our food, to which we said yes. Main reason I’m going a poor review was my mums Lasagna, which was a bowl of undercooked gloop. We brought it to the attention of 2 members of staff who both gave a glaekit look & walked away. We paid the bill saying they might have lost us a customers for good. Appreciate it was busy, but standards have to be maintained. Another observation, they could’ve made a killing if they put 1 or 2 staff on drinks duty for the crowds outside. People were constantly coming in asking to be served.
