Fishers Peak State Park opened recently with wonderful hiking opportunities, including a trail to the top of this 9,633 -foot peak. Also, a short drive away is Trinidad Lake State Park with great boating, fishing, and kayaking.Take a drive on Highway 12, a designated scenic byway. It will take you through gorgeous meadows and quaint small towns, and over to the Sangre de Cristo mountains and the Spanish Peaks. Highway 12 will take you over to Walsenburg and another state park, Lathrop State Park.Trinidad has a great live music scene, such as at the Trinidad Lounge or The Well.There are fine art galleries, antique shops and gift shops on Main St. and Commercial St., as well as a first-class museum, the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art.Main Street Live! offers diverse theatrical performances.There are numerous restaurants to choose from. Highly recommended are Bella Luna's for pizza & drinks, Mission at the Bell for Mexican, Nana & Nanos for wonderful Italian, The Trinidad Smokehouse, and Bob & Earl's for breakfast.Moose's is a great local martini bar, popular with locals and tourists alike. Martini master Howard will fill you in on all the local goings-on.
