We stayed at Angaga for 2 weeks in Oct/Nov 2024. This was the 13th island that we have visited. We prefer rustic traditional Maldive islands, not too big, friendly and with a good house reef. Angaga did not disappoint. The island is based in the center of South Ari Atoll with powder white sand and swinging palm trees. So beautiful and photogenic both above and below sea level. The house reef is extremely easily accessible just off the beach. It was pleasing to see some new coral regrowth along with the abundant sea life including large shoals of fish, turtles, large black and white tip reef sharks, nurse sharks, sting ray, moray eels, lionfish and many more. It is a must to take an underwater camera. Our only niggle is that we saw other guests standing on the corals and even kicking sea cucumbers. Other resorts we have visited leave information in the rooms about the correct conduct of snorkeling on the house reef. We chose to stay on the half-board plus option which includes breakfast, evening meal, morning and afternoon snacks and a modest list of cocktails, house spirits, wine and soft drinks. A free snorkel trip is also included in this plan. We found the meals to be very good with plenty of choice. Our fabulous, friendly waiter Moosa looked after us for the duration of our stay and gave us a table overlooking the beach. Every evening, we were greeted by Gurung, one of the many chefs, with a salute and a huge smile. It’s always a pleasure to see staff so happy in their work. Not only the restaurant had a sandy floor but the main bar too where we met two tremendous waiters and cocktail makers, Saman and Nabbe. Their professionalism and friendly banter made drinks at the bar most enjoyable. The sunset bar is a must-visit. Situated at the end of the new Premier Water Villas the sea breeze, beautiful sunsets and again friendly staff really offer a relaxing ambiance. I had a few problems with my drone but one of the chefs very kindly offered to help me. Thank you so much Kanishka for your very helpful advice and use of your battery pack. It was very thoughtful of you. We were bitten quite badly by mosquitos which is a first for us in the Maldives. Hubaib on reception arranged for me to see the doctor and straight away gave me some medication. Thank you Hubaib for organising this for me. We decided to go on the Whaleshark trip by dhoni boat. At a reasonable price of $60 per person we ventured out to sea in search of the largest fish in the ocean. The captain Ahead and his crew found a young fish at a mere 5 to 6 meters long. Swimming with this gentle giant is an awesome experience and we came home with some fabulous photos to remind us of our adventure. A bonus too was to see a Manta Ray. The captain served tea, coffee and coconut on our return to the island. The jetty gets very hot so remember your flip flops for your return. The security guard offered to lend me his! The rooms are well equipped with rustic bamboo furniture and a spacious ind
