Anjajavy le Lodge - Relais&Châteaux

Isn’t it great when you research and plan for months, you spend the considerable $$ and you make the effort to travel to an incredibly remote location …. and the experience lives up to every expectation (and more). Anjajavy Lodge is located on a beautiful peninsular, a 90 minute charter flight from Antananarivo, Madagascar. The surrounding protected area is large and contains a diverse range of different ecosystems. It is home to a variety of different plants and creatures, most of which can be found nowhere else in the world. The Lemurs are, of course, the highlight. You will see lemurs! …. climbing, prancing and jumping all around the lodge and surrounding area. The cabins are comfortable, although the air conditioning struggles a little in the late afternoon/evening (make sure you find the electric fan in your room, as it makes sleeping easier). The food is delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. And there is a good variety of interesting daily activities. We enjoyed the mangrove sunset cruise, the baobab walk, the tour to see the giant tortoises and the night walk; and we felt 5 nights at the lodge was perfect. And every now and then during your stay - whether enjoying afternoon tea watching the lemurs, sipping a cocktail by the pool or eating a delicious three course meal under the stars - it hits you where you are, and just how incredible it is that you can be so comfortable in somewhere so remote. That is the essence of Anjajavy.

Nous avons eu la chance de découvrir cet établissement au charme certain en début de saison et pour raisons professionnelles. En effet, quoi de plus naturel de tester ce que nous souhaitons proposer à nos voyageurs, n'est-ce pas ? Nous connaissions le lodge de part sa réputation mais nous souhaitions vivre l'expérience pour mieux en parler. 3 jours d'exception au cœur d'un cadre environnemental époustouflant où de nombreux sites écotouristiques plus beaux les uns que les autres, ne se trouvent qu'à quelques encablures du lodge. Des bungalows au volume et au confort généreux permettent un repos en tout quiétude face mer. Les extérieurs du restaurant ne font qu'un avec la nature environnante et vous donne cette impression de quiétude tant recherchée au coeur de ces lieux d'exception. La direction et le personnel semblent également en totale harmonie avec ces lieux et leurs hôtes que nous finissons par nous sentir "presqu'" à la maison. Une cuisine raffinée et surprenante finissent de vous charmer et de vous donner qu'une envie .... revenir ! Merci pour tout cela et à bientôt je l'espère.

This was our 4th visit and it is still my favourite place in the world! Anjajavy just has everything - remote, unspoiled location, effortless wildlife watching, water sports, guided walks available every day to see different wonders, walks you can do on your own, sunset boat trip in the mangroves watching fruit bats take off, perfect sandy beach we had to ourselves and lovely swimming pool, delicious food at all meals with snacks available inbetween meals if hunger should strike (unlikely!), charming and helpful staff, delightful villas (the bathrooms have been changed to shower rooms). The tables at dinner were laid in different locations each evening including one just for our family in the oasis which was delightful. We were also given their “dinner under the baobabs” evening which was very special indeed. I would so love to return to paradise!

Amazing four night stay at Ajajavy lodge with my partner and sons (12 & 16). A truly magical experience which we can't recommend highly enough! Beautifully spacious individual huts with big downstairs room and balcony and second room for extra space for privacy or some kids (in our case we took two huts). All meals were included and we're really exceptional. Deliciously prepared and as good as in many of the best restaurants back in London. A big surprise given how remote the lodge is. Seeing and experiencing the lemurs every day in the Oasis with delicious tea and biscuits was magical. Daily walks are included in the rate in the morning and afternoon, and fun boat or kayak trips can be arranged including visiting to the giant tortoise project. A titre professionnel et privé j'ai visité en 45 ans les plus beaux sites hôteliers du monde mais Anjajavy reste pour moi le numéro 1 car il est l'alliance d'un paysage remarquable unique , d'une biodiversité préservée , d'une quiétude de tous les instants et surtout d'une ambiance conviviale de l'équipe en place . des randonnées à pied inépuisables , avec des rencontres toujours insolites avec la faune et la flore unique de ce pays. Un chef de cuisine digne d'un gastronomique qui permet de savourer tous les produits locaux merci à la direction et au personnel toujours disponibles et souriants pour rendre ces moments magiques et inoubliables , merci aussi au professionnalisme de l'infirmière que j'ai du malheureusement solliciter ...

The resort and the surrounding area represent entire Madagascar on a smaller scale. You see lemurs, chameleons, baobabs, a small village, beaches, a small tsingy...
