Alykes View Apartments

Stayed here for one week. It's in a great position for the beach, restaurants and bars, all probably about a 2 minute walk away. A bit noisy a night as people seem to use the road that loops around the lake as race track for the quad bikes. Our apartment, whilst clean, and spacious was a little tired in parts, but the bathroom was a very unpleasant room. Very dark and pokey and consisted of a small shower tray in the corner with no curtain or screen around it and the hook for the shower head was about 3 feet up the wall, so to take a shower you had to hold the shower head over you (if anyone has ever seen Gavin and Stacey when they go to look at a flat, you'll know exactly what I mean!!) The problem with doing that meant that most of the water went all over the floor, then usually washed under the door and out into the kitchen area. We were provided with a dubious looking mop and broken bucket to clean up with, but were more worried about what we'd be moping over the floor given the condition of the mop. The rest of the bathroom fixtures were very tired and the silver taps and fittings were all flaking. Shower times and bathroom visits were quite an ordeal. There is a very large balcony and if you look to the left you have a nice view of the lake and surrounding hillside, the view to the right is of the back of the shops and the rubbish dump. We could not believe the bags of rubbish just piled up and everyday people would drive up and empty their cars with all their household waste. Zakynthos really needs to do something about their waste disposal because in the height of the summer and 32 degree heat, this is not nice to see or smell. Neither is this fair on the owners of businesses that look directly onto it. The staff were very pleasant and our room was cleaned and swept daily. If the bathroom was modernised and the view improved, it would certainly make for a very handy base.

Very roomy apartment fully renovated. Clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and efficient. Great food in the restaurant.

Our stay was good but I suggest to put fitted sheets on the beds and maybe change the sheets every 2 days instead of 3 days.
