A cultural and architectural icon in Almaty, it is an interesting experience living in one of the higher rise hotels in the city.
Although the interior is a little older, it is well maintained and service staff are friendly.

Check in : At check in counter upon showing the confirmation document with number from trip.com , the guy could not find the booking , he kept on saying he can’t find the booking . After 15 mins he said he will speak to the manager and get back to us and we should wait . He took another 20/25 mins and later confirmed and gave us the room .
Restaurant at 26th floor: On Sunday evening around 9:30 , three of us went there to have dinner , the hostess at the gate stopped us and refused entry by saying minimum spend is 20,000 tenge per person , we told her we are staying in the hotel and why this rule ? She insisted on it even though the restaurant was empty . So we left from there and went to another restaurant to have dinner .
Next day out of curiosity we went there again same time , but this time around no one stopped us and we e had dinner and drinks ending up even spending more than 60k .
We even asked the manager about the previous day and he had no answer to give us. Bit strange .
Breakfast was good , but the staff should learn to welcome the guests . One morning we weren’t bit late for the. Breakfast around 10:45 , exactly at 11 am ( closing time ) one lady came and started pulling the chairs from our table and said we should leave and they have closed .
Room : we took 2309 room queen suite , room was clean and neat. there was aircon in only one room ( inside one ) hence the outside room was bit hot .
Aircon was making lot of noise , had to complain couple of times before it was fixed .
Curtains need to be taken care of , day breaks around 4:30 5 am and the sunlight is inside the
room all over even though the curtains are covered, which disturbed our sleep throughout our stay .
Location : excellent , walkable distance to all nearby places .
So it’s kind of mixed experience

The Kazakhstan hotel is centrally located. Metro station is within walking distance. But the room is outdated. Breakfast is good

Fantastic breakfast with wide selection of pastry, nuts, cakes, salad and fruits. Good restaurants nearby. Housekeeping is spotty; some days are good but some days they forgot to replenish water and toiletries. Beds are old and saggy and needed to be replaced. Card keys needed to be revalidated everyday which is annoying.
