Everything was wonderful

We stayed overnight as part of a cycling trip across southern Spain. Accomodation is superb as is the hospitality. Amala is a wonderful host and the meal we had in house was restaurant quality. We dined out on the terrace overlooking the gorge. Highly recommended.

They most amazing place with views over the gorge, warm and welcoming. The food was amazing had dinner one night and I had what has got to have been the best steak I have ever eaten. Fantastic host, very helpful and its also popular with the locals, which is always a good recommendation.

What can we say? Thanks to the economic crisis and the pandemie Alhama is not the powerful town it once was. With a lot of closed shops and lots of younger people who left town for a prosperous future elsewhere. And then suddenly, all out of the blue, you discover this pearl at the Andalucía crown. AMALA and PACO run this beautiful place which was built up by their padres. For us, they make a topscore on three points. 1. The food. Amala is the chef de cuisine and what she cookes is amazing stuff, all with fresh ingredients from the land and the sea. We think that the quality of her meals deserve at least a Bib Gourmand by Michelin!! The restaurant is open to the public, so even if your not staying in their hotel ( which would be a bit foolish as you pass by Alhama) then you still can enjoy their dishes. It's the best you can get in that region! 2. The rooms and devices. The rooms are clean, with comfortable beds, private bathrooms and very well designed. Just as the common space for the restaurant, with lots of art at the walls. Again: very well designed. The sights from the terrace are beautiful, you overlook the beautiful green gorge. The terrace is also a place to enjoy your menu and breakfast or have a drink after your ride or walk. The breakfast is included and very enjoyable with home baked bread, jamon, tomatoes and fresh fruit. 3. The kindness of Alama and Paco who receive you as if you are true family, always prepared to answer your questions about the history of the village and the house and ready to fulfill your wishes. We would say that their service is also top of the bill. And ask them about the history of the house, which was build by their father, a famous flamenco singer, who wanted this hostal to be a vivid working place for the traditional flamenco with concerts, working shops and other activities. The father is honoured with a lot of pictures at the walls. For us this place was a warm bath thanks to the beautiful design, the warm welcome, the nice rooms and the excellent food. So maybe hostal Seguiriya should not only be listed in the hotel section, but especially in the pages of best restaurants. Thank you Alama ( and husband) and Paco, we had a great stay at your place and we are looking forward to your new flamenco activities in the autumn and winter.
