Writing this with great a disappointment being a Sri Lankan to inform you how South lake Resort Koggala handled my (confirmed) reservation. This is property is utterly disorganized property, full of highly unprofessional occupied and staff with Zero communication skills and Zero training in business ethics, and last but not least how greedy they are for money. I say this because, South Lake Resort cancelled my confirmed reservation with less than 24 hrs prior to arrival. Incident in brief, For my 21st B day celebrations photo shoot, I contacted the hotel reservations on the 25thNovember , the person Bhagya(lady) took my order and confirmed the room reservation for the 2nd Dec. I requested Bhagya to send me the confirmation in writing, which she agreed to do so. But until 30th Nov, no response from South Lake. Bhagya, she is not answering or responding to my calls or even had the courtesy to call back for the call she missed. Eventually I dropped a mail to the common reservation mail id on the 30thhoping the someone from reservations would send the confirmation. On the 1st December noon I get a call from a person called Dilshan, saying that he had to cancel my reservation due to a Australian tour group is arriving and they needed more rooms. therefore, hotel decided to cancel mine and give them my rooms to accommodate their guests. When I questioned Dilshan about this, all Dilshan had to tell me was Bhagya had never communicated this with their team and she is missing from the time she took my reservation and had not come to work every since and even the hotel staff cant contact her to inquire about my reservation.(In writing he sent me) Eventually Dilshan wished me luck ,like he did me favor by cancelling the reservation, and hung up. I was totally helpless in the last minute. So this is South Lake for you, South Lake is not up to the standard as per the Star ratings they advertise everywhere. Their staff are not trained at all, this property is in great greed for money, so whatever happens to the individual guests they don’t care. As long as they can earn more, they will not hesitate to cancel any individually booking s at their Specially If you’re a Sri Lankan, they will not even inform you in advance, they will let you find out that your dooms when you arrive at their reception. Star class standard hospitality South Lake, well done. Neither I will recommend this hotel or ever step in for any reason or won’t let any one book this property ever again.
