We first visited Aquila Elounda Village in June last year and were absolutely blown away. Everything about the hotel exceeded our expectations — so much so that we considered it one of the very best we’ve ever experienced. We decided to treat ourselves by upgrading to all-inclusive, which gave us the freedom to enjoy the à la carte restaurants as often as we liked. We also indulged in a luxury spa massage, which was, without question, the best either of us has ever had. It was such a memorable and relaxing stay that we knew without hesitation we’d return the following year. As we prepared for our return visit this May, we were more than happy to upgrade again. However, we were recently informed via email that one of the à la carte restaurants will no longer be open for evening service. When we checked the hotel’s app, we also noticed that the lunch menu at Mirabello now mirrors the evening menu at Symposium (formerly Culinarium), which is a disappointing development. Not only is our preferred à la carte no longer available in the evening, but the repetition of menus across two restaurants limits the variety we so enjoyed during our first stay. While we still plan to indulge in another spa massage — as this remains a highlight untouched by the changes — we were disappointed to learn that the Dream Bar cocktail venue is now closed indefinitely. Like another reviewer recently mentioned, what we originally booked and were so excited to return to has changed significantly. It’s difficult to justify spending thousands on a return trip, only to find key parts of the experience have been altered or removed. Naturally, this has impacted our decision to upgrade to all-inclusive this time around. We’re still looking forward to our stay in May, but it’s fair to say we’re going with slightly more tempered expectations.
