Due to the nature of my job, I travel a lot and stay at hotels. I have had different experiences from good to mildy irritating ones. However, my experience at Ibeto hotel has been humiliating and terrible. I got booked to stay at Ibeto for a work activity but on getting there with my colleagues on Monday 18th July 2022, we were ignored by the receptionists. We had to call their attention to attend to us, which they reluctantly did. After completing the forms we were given and waiting for about 40 mins we were casually informed that the hotel was booked and we would be moved to a “sister” hotel. Ofcourse we were not happy with the decision and made it known to them but seeing that it was getting late and we were exhausted we agreed. The hotel we were moved to Barca Liga Hotel is the worst- it is an old hotel, with rusty pipes, insect infested bedrooms and dirty sheets. Most of us had to have our rooms changed. Ibeto hotel did not move us back to their hotel the next day as they promised until two days later which is today Wednesday. I waited all day and watched while other people got their rooms but I never did, the receptionists kept on assuring me I will get the room. As of 8pm I didn’t get a room, I was told by the receptionist that the room was high cleaned. This was the same update I revived since me afternoon. I saw every male guest and colleague recieve a room except me. At that point I was upset and called for the manger, when he got there the receptionist told him I did not get a room because I was not present. How does this make sense? I lost my cool and explained the situation. The manger stood there and provided all sort of explanation and guilt tripping mechanism- referring to age; he is older than me so I should take whatever he is saying as final. A male colleague came to the reception and saw me upset and in tears and he tried to ask question. By that time I had to make alternative arrangement for accommodation pending when my organization will respond. The manger then decided to use his standing as a “man “ and an older person for me to listen and stay back. How on earth do you tell a paying guest that? Stay back in the hotel and sleep where! My luggage has been in the lobby since morning, and I still was not sure or an accommodation. I am appalled and disappointed at the treatment I have received at Ibeto.
