The Derwentwater Hotel

Its a nice hotel a littld tired and no coffee machine or filter coffee at breakfast. Yes instant coffee

What a lovely hotel, most staff were friendly & accommodating...however, there wasn't a fan in the room and it only had hopper windows, im still waiting on the one I asked for, was told by other guests they had a fan in the room. I also paid extra (most were vouchers for our Christmas) but I put another £30 for room with lake view....?...but you can't see it for the scaffolding...I said at reception and was told she would speak to boss as she couldn't issue a refund but someone would email me later....im still waiting! I did hold off from this review, but again I'm disappointed as no one has gotten in touch ! We had a room with a dog, the worst place to put dogs is right above the car park, every car door that slammed shut just set her off...if we had been informed there was work going on I could have changed my dates....but we weren't. Shower instructions don't match the shower, but when we eventually got hot water (after 35mins) it was just a trickle...though we were better off than some other guests...the second floor had no water at all on the Sunday morning! Gardens were lovely, and bar prices were not too bad !

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty dated . Sign in reception says the hotel was built in 1812….don’t think any maintenance has been carried out since. Absolutely appalling.

We stayed in a ‘deluxe’ apartment, the place is a dive, not just dated but filthy and very tatty. The bathroom and back bedroom stink of foist. Black mould on the back of the bedroom curtain and sweet wrappers and thick dust on the skirting board behind the bed. A pointless lamp on a table with no plug anywhere next to it. Door handles handing off. Its a very grim accommodation, will not be back.

We booked this hotel for a night on our way to Scotland. We booked a double room, however, on arrival our room was 2 single beds! They said that we couldn't change as there weren't any spare rooms. The decor was old, carpets dirty. The meal we had in the restaurant was reheated chips and over cooked chicken. Only good thing was the grounds.

Not a three star hotel at all! I wouldn’t give it one star! The place looks rundown and tired, filthy carpets that smell. Scratches in walls, dirty doors and a very untidy reception. The hotel doesn’t look like in the website, it’s really deceitful! We stayed in a Premier Plus and we had no phone to communicate with reception, the bathroom didn’t have a shelf where to put your toiletries, the bed was uncomfortable and the curtains were old and disintegrating! You can’t get a cup of tea/coffee after 9:30am as the bar doesn’t open until 3:30pm. We were asked to register our car in a computer at the desk but weren’t explained that this didn’t mean we could park for free during our stay, it just meant that we weren’t going to get fined! We had a surprise as we were checking out with a car park bill!! The only good thing about this hotel was the location, we could walk to Keswick through a beautiful footpath. THEY SHOULD NOT BE OPEN!!
