Wonderful place to stay, I love the vibe and energy of the hostel itself. I did not stay enough to enjoy to lovely activities and community but I absolutely reccommend this place. I stayed in 8 women room and I appreciated the cleanliness of the bed, bedsheet, locker etc. That is very important as it is the only space just for you. Bathroom was ok, I did not know it is mixed but I did not have any problem - and it was also clean. I like the option of the restaurant and free tea at the reception. Location is also great! Kunming is lovely and artsy town🫶

I was very well received there, everyone was very attentive to my needs and requests and very polite when they had to approach me. As an international hostel, they could have more comfortable beds, suited to international standards. I also had some issues with noise from an early hour, since the family running it lives in the same building, so kitchen noises (no door) and the child being loud at 6:30am were a bit challenging. Still, overall a very good experience!

The guesthouse is located near the bus station and not far from the old town. There are restaurants and shop around. The common area are really nice and large. I stayed in the female dorm (4 beds) for one night and I was alone. The bedding was confortable and the room was clean. The private bathroom could use some refreshing and be cleaner. The staff was nice even though they didn't speak English.

Minulla oli hyvä aika Jianshui, omistaja hostelli teki minun oleskelu vielä erityistä, hän auttoi minua monella tavalla, olen ylimääräisesti kiitollinen hän voisi auttaa minua ulos saada SIM-kortti ja kaikki sovellus taistelut voit kohtata matkalla Kiinaan ulkomailla . Suosittelen erittäin jäädä hänen kanssaan illalliselle tai mitään ruokaa, ruoka oli hämmästyttävä ja tunsin vierailevan ystävät pikemminkin kuin jäädä hostelli. On mukava katto, jossa voit myös käyttää pesukone ja kuivaa vaatteita. Tulen varmasti takaisin!

We only stayed 2 nights with 1 full day there. Location great. We had an easy 15min Didi from Kunming train station. Our full day there we walked to Green Park from the hostel (about 25mins) going via Wenlin Street, and then on to Old Street. Staff very friendly and helpful, helped us book a restaurant on our first night. Good level of English spoken so could have a proper conversation without resorting to translation apps. We didn't make full use of the hostel facilities but all looked good. Our room was as pictured and as expected. Breakfast was a choice of Western (toast, fried egg, fruit) or local (Pork Noodles). They were both OK, though the noodles were better. The hostel is laid out in a courtyard type style with the barand billiards at the bottom so noose does tend to travel to the rooms. It was still rather noisy one evening at 11:30pm (quiet hours supposed to begin at 11pm) with groups chatting loudly, but I did WeChat the staff at reception who did respond very quickly to ask people to keep noise down. This was good service but if you are looking for the quietest night sleep this may not be the best choice for you. Cleanliness was good, but the bin in our bathroom was not emptied as you are asked to put toilet tissue in there I think it is important to be emptied daily. We were supplied with disposable slippers in our room, but even though they are in a plastic bag, one pair was wet when opened. They could also do with a bath mat for outside the shower especially because some water escapes past the curtain when showering. Overall it was a great stay, good location value and staff.

Stayed at this hostel twice! This time I needed to mail a key card I forgot to return to my previous hostel. The hosts at Elegant were super nice and mailed the key card for me that day for just 12 yuan. The place is clean and will only be improved over time. Great wifi and hot showers. Bathrooms can be a little stinky and while the location is great for the train station, it's a bit far from some of Kunming's main attractions.

還是那句話，林子大了什麼鳥都有！so本來很好的一個池子總是1-2個攪屎棍毀了。 我之所以選擇菜菜美宿：1是因為房間面積寬廣25-30平方米；另外一家4人間or6人間衹有12-15平吧我沒記錯的話。另外感謝攜程積分幫我抵扣掉一些錢，2個晚上才23元；比之前在喀什青旅還便宜…太倦了。 2、説實話下了灰機後打車一進村，我心裏有點涼，but前台小姑涼特別瘦，一手拎我的行李箱、一手拿手提布袋，媽呀……房間很充裕下，前台小姑涼挨個帶我看了一下，我直接從8人間換到6人間，陽面。體諒我一個北方人如此熱愛陽光。 3、看到菜菜boss後，發覺是個非常年輕的姑娘，雖然説話温温柔柔、慢慢地，很親切，完全沒有任何架子，but接人待物非常麻利且反應速度。面相也好，一定是心地善良、友善之人。當晚出去吃飯，菜老闆貼心的説要是找不回來給她打視頻。結果走丟了；給菜菜打視頻，找回來… 4、當晚好睡一夜，從晚上10點多到第二天早上快9點；我的眼罩、耳塞、安眠葯都沒有用上，因為特別特安靜。由於朝陽的房間窗户對着院子，起初還擔心會很吵，結果多餘了；房間內小室友們睡覺都沒有呼吸聲…拉上床位簾子，深手不見五指… 5、5、第二天白天跟不認識的青旅小夥伴挨個打招呼，大家反應很熱情，紛紛加入聊天、相約去茶咖博覽會、晚上玩牌、打麻將or狼人殺…氛圍巨好…當即就立刻決定再訂半個月的床位…2026年12月4日to12月18日。民宿小盆友的素質都很謙虛、友好： 1）每天晚上8點多大家準時在前廳排排坐-狼人殺（一入狼人殺深似海呀，家人們）蘇蘇、橙子🍊、閆老師（青旅小夥伴）簡直了，邏輯爆棚，發言真假難辨。“邏輯”哥，是來搞笑的；邊玩邊學，對新手友好，不會一上來就先斃掉。最瘋狂的時候聯繫其他民宿小夥伴一起狼人殺…（狼人殺後遺症，失眠了，I think 過度使用大腦so強烈要求換單間又訂了一個月多月的房間，知道26年1月底） 2）下鋪小姐姐邀約一起出西盟、孟連玩，小姐姐平時很清冷，沒想到會被邀約，且主打就是坐公共交通，是我特別喜歡的… 3）平時吃飯都是90後小盆友做飯，每一次哦都會被邀約，由於我吃的少，他們都不讓我A錢。索性多幹點活吧…特別是我嗓子發炎了，湖南妹子們居然做清淡，甚至是寡淡菜系，太感動了… 以至於我直接訂了一個月的房間；終於有單間了還是朝陽的（高原的陽光明媚與海島的不一樣，讓人心生寧靜、舒服） 5、蔡老闆很有創意、組織能力強，行動力更強：1）12月21日冬至組織大家包餃子，那會還有好多北方的大哥大姐 2）12月31日跨年，在羣裏徵集玩什麼遊戲；其中有一項是拔河，上至高齡下至幼齡沒有一個人不喜歡的、也包括外國同胞-眼見一個個呲牙咧嘴渾身上下使勁… Ps這波操作湖南人要火，因為自從廣東大廚離開後，湖南妹子們就承擔起做飯的重任！ 總而言之，環境好、氛圍更好（曾經2個時點菜菜家爆滿，連户外帳篷都被徵用了）磁場乾淨！我會再來的😄

I was planned to stay for one night，but it was so fun here so I stayed for one more night. The boss drived his car and took us to the coffee farms. We had delicious roast fish on the road（just 15 yuan）. I made friends and had great memories here. Amazing hostel，amazing boss and his car， absolutely the best choice in Puer！The only youth hostel in PuEr.

NOTE: This hostel is 20 minute taxi ride away from the Old Town and the bus terminal to Yulong and 40+ minutes away from the train station. As such, you can save time and money paying a few dollars more to stay in the Old Town (a taxi is around 20 yuan each way to the hostel). The positive of the hostel is that, like other Desti hostels, there are large community spaces to chill and socialize whether Chinese or a foreigner friend. So if that is your goal, then this is a great option. Unfortunately, I found this to be the least maintained and clean Desti of the three I have been to. The curtains on my bed were covered in gross stains. And guests in the room were loud after quiet hours. They also placed us near the shower, some guests hung their underwear so it smelled. Not the hostel’s fault, but perhaps this is who it attracts? Fortunately, the staff did apologize and offer a solution once they understood the issues.

It was nice, new, and clean. As far as I could tell, the staff couldn't really speak English, but they were nice and helpful. The other guests were also very friendly, so somebody would always help you out if you needed it. It's in a good location for the big ancient town area. The only drawback is how far away this area is from Dali train station. But for everything else it's a pretty good location.
